Activating smoke alarms

More often than not, smoke alarms come with batteries included. To ensure that this battery is not draining before the smoke alarm is put into operation, the smoke alarms are completely turned off.

To activate a smoke alarm the test button needs to be hold for a considerable amount of time. Although the manual indicates five seconds, experience tells us it may be necessary to hold the test button for up to 30 seconds.
